The blurred edges of me are what keep people intrigued and at a distance.
Get closer and maybe you’ll see me with a little more clarity.
But is it clarity or is it just the shadow of me you made up in your mind?
A shadow so that you could fill in the space with whatever color and beauty you imagined in your head.
But what happens when that image doesn’t match what I really am.
What happens when everything you thought I was, was just what you had wished I had been.
You saw me through the lens you wanted, not for what I actually am.
Don’t expect me to live up to that pedestal you put that shadowy, beautiful, idealized version of me on.
